Thank you for spending a few moments to learn more about my practice.

I obtained my doctorate from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in 2011. The clinical psychology program at UNR distinguished itself in research and clinical training in what are known as the “third wave” behavioral therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I was fortunate to be mentored by some of the current leading researchers in psychotherapy. The focus of my research and training in graduate school was in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), under the mentorship of Dr. Alan Fruzzetti. I was trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) by Dr. Steven Hayes, the founder of the approach, and by Dr. Victoria Follette, who is an expert in ACT for survivors of trauma.

For the past decade, I have worked extensively in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, and emotion dysregulation. My work is rooted in science and I am committed to using cutting-edge, evidence-based treatments, including ACT, DBT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). For chronic pain, I utilize a specific CBT for Chronic Pain protocol, as well as ACT. For trauma, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure, which are considered the gold standard psychological treatments for PTSD. Finally, I use DBT for assisting patients with difficulties managing emotions.

I take a recovery-oriented approach with even the most severe issues. My approach is to work collaboratively with you to learn new behaviors and skills to replace ineffective patterns of behavior that are interfering in your life. I believe the outcome of therapy is to help you live a life in accordance to your values and long-term goals. I will strive to give you the guidance and tools to make that a reality.
